This service is provided to the public as well as the trade.

We have the latest equipment for the recutting, repair or repolishing of any colored gem, faceted or cabochon. We can recut or repair broken or chipped stones as well as repolish badly abraded gems. We also cut rough material.

In cutting colored gems weight is a major consideration, we can cut for maximum weight retention or we can cut for fine symmetry. In many cases we blend the two together to end up with a beautiful gem. In all cases we will advise the customer as to the options and respect the customers wishes.

We offer free consultation to all clients, on the best way to proceed on a given stone.

Capability 1: Recutting, involves two choices, either keeping the same shape and reducing the size of the stone or completely changing the shape of the stone. Which to choose depends on the damage to the gem. Recutting involves the most weight loss.
Capability 2: Repair, involves maintaining as much of the current shape and weight as possible. Damage to the stone will determine what a cutter can do to fix the stone with as little weight loss as possible. If the damage is slight, the repair will not disrupt the shape or loose much weight. If the damage is more extensive, the symmetry will be effected in the repair, this will save more weight than recutting.
Capability 3: Repolishing a gem will not change the shape of the stone, the cutter simply repolishes every facet, which will remove ware and add new life to the stone. This process saves the most weight.
