Gary H. Petersen, DIAMOND CUTTER has been a cutter for the trade since 1971, the year he graduated from the American School of Diamond Cutting. He was the first journeyman to graduate from the school. The school's instructor master diamond cutter Leonard Ludell was a third generation diamond cutter, founder of the school and author of "How to Cut a Diamond".
Gary H. Petersen has been cutting diamonds and colored gems in Sun Valley, since his move to Idaho in 1971. As a member of the trade he has been an active Appraiser of gems and jewelry since 1974. He is a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America, where in 1982 he received his Gemologist Certificate, ( a gemologist is an individual that makes a study of gems and gem material). He is also a member of the American Gem Society, and a founding member of the Intermountain Facetors Guild, a guild established for the continuation of faceting in the area. Gary was recognized for his colored stone cutting by the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, as the nations formost facetor of colored gemstones in 1982.
